There is going to be a clean up after the meal is over. You probably have a backsplash in your kitchen. It is completely worth it because it cuts your cleaning time in half. Think about trying to clean cooking oils, like canola and olive oil, off of paint or wall paper. That would be a total disaster!

BACKSPLASHWell, whether you have a tile, steel, marble, stone or glass backsplash they will need some maintenance on them, in order to, keep up that beautiful, sparkle.  There are five, simple maintenance tips you should consider for each type of  backsplash.

  • Tiles may need two, different techniques due to their grooves. First, is one part vinegar and one part water then, with a toothbrush you can make a paste with baking soda and water.
  • Steel will require one part water and one part vinegar. Make sure you use a soft cloth and that you clean in a circular motion to reduce streaking. Be sure that you never use a glass cleaner on this type of backsplash, it is not the best choice.
  • Marble can become discolored easily so, try using four cups of water with just three drops of liquid dish soap. Yes, literally three drops.
  • Stone, just like marble, you can use water and liquid dish soap, but instead of three drops you can use five.
  • Glass can actually use a glass cleaner to keep its shine, but a vinegar and water mixture is your first line of defense.

It is very easy to get rid of grease and dirt. However, it is important to clean regularly to avoid mold and mildew build up.

So, as you can see, it is effortless to keep your kitchen looking brand new. All it takes is some help from everyday pantry items. These are things you already purchase at the grocery store anyway. Now, you can really believe that these food items do more than just help to dress up your salads and puff up your baked goods.
